In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field of organic chemistry of innovative materials. The investigations of Prof. Martín have demonstrated that the rational and creative combination of different types of functional structures in new hybrid architectures can result in groundbreaking discovery of new materials with tremendous impact in many technological fields. Among his more recent studies, the combination of tetrathiafulvalenes and fullerenes for their efficient use in photovoltaic applications and the synthesis of a multisugar derivative of C60 for the inhibition of the Ebola virus infection at sub-nanomolar concentrations. The results obtained by Prof. Martín have generated new knowledge, and he still continues to inspire young generations of investigators.
